We both arrived safe and sound in the UK on the 30th of April 2015 with our entire lives packed into one HUGE packing box, plus my camera gear & my Apple Mac. By ‘both’ I mean myself and my most wonderful travel buddy ‘Beastie’ the black lab cross rescue.
So I began my amazing adventure by falling off a tree swing on my second day here and dislocated my finger! This sounds like such a simple statement but it is totally loaded with a good half hour, with actions type of story. I have only wonderful things to say about my A&E experience in Crawley emergency hospital. All the staff were amazing and even got a special healing hug from the Doctor who re-located my finger.
The finger thing did slow me down a little, which in hindsight has been a very good thing.
Beastie and I have had to adjust and learn so much, just our morning walks can be filled with endless obstacles on the suburban roads of Horsham. There are crazy foxes who hang out in the road opposite our house, killer cats who stalk nearly every driveway, bonkers pigeons who tease and tease until the very, very last moment and then fly off, as well as horse’s with riders, motor bikes, cycling bikes and a million other dogs who all have to be greeted.
So for the first few weeks of walking the dog was more like a one handed drag race through the urban jungle at 5.30am, which as you can imagine was just a little stressful.
The forest and fields around also hold there own special kind of madness, Squirrels, Deer, rabbits, geese, mountain bikes and joggers they all come with their own major panic.
Seeing that we are well out of our depth we decided to sign up for ‘Dog School’ With the amazing and most wonderful Elaine Heath – will keep you updated on our progress!
I hope to be able to write this blog every two weeks and share some of the adventures which Beastie and I have and some of the amazing places we get to!
